Mel’Isma’ is a multidisciplinary project, in which the audience experienced the outlook from a female adolescent point of view, on the way the village life and surroundings help in reflecting about life. The project is a musical-theatrical performance performed by female artists, where both complement each other’s setting to engage with the audience more. The context of this phrase is used as a monologue in Maltese, by a female adolescent who is trying to understand and make sense of what is happening around her. She thinks aloud about what her beliefs should be towards life, by comparing her hometown, its people, activities, and countryside, together with what she stands for, in the form of diary writing. The monologue is accompanied by live music written to complement the script’s flow and highlight instances while taking the audience towards the movement from one scene to another. Mel’Isma’ will put the audience in 5 different settings: growing up in the village, the people of the village, the countryside, the feast, and a concluding thought.
