Geryon is written for the relatively uncommon combination of violin and piano four hands. The work's structure is clearly defined by four imposing chords, played fortissimo, that not only serve to announce the opening and closing of the work but also mark the change in mood from one section to another. The violin's fast passages and the piano's polyrhythmic writing make this a very exciting piece for the advanced student and the professional musician alike.
