As the name implies, Castrum Maris was a castle that was built during the medieval period by the sea in the Grand Harbour in Birgu also known as Citta' Vittoriosa.
This composition describes musically the different episodes of this strategic fort opening with a calm passage describing the original castle surrounded by calm waters and tranquillity.
Later, a passage with more movement follows. This helps in describing the fort during more turbulent times due to its military importance.
The finale of this work closes by describing the Fort Saint Angelo as the Invincible Fort.
