A Fool's Day

Inspired by the day to day routine, Fool’s Day was composed to portray the different stages of a normal working person goes through during the day. The beginning of the piece starts with a slow but with a flowing rhythm which depicts the starting of the morning of preparing things to go to work before leaving home. This comes to a sudden stop with a fermata leading to a fast tempo marking the chaotic driving in traffic with some comical interventions depicting horns and fast-moving cars. Following this is the work time. A slow movement with a repeated melody showing repetitiveness in work which transitions back to the chaotic driving back home, repeating the same pattern as before but in reverse.  A contrasting fanfare then follows to show the joy of returning home. A quick rendezvous of all the major themes used are followed as recounting of the day ending the piece with a fast-paced ending to finish off the day for the working person to quickly go to rest for another fool’s day.

A Fool's Day has been recorded by the Filarmonica di Firenze Giacchino Rossini under the direction of Prof. Giampaolo Lazzeri, in the composer's album "Pieces of Malta" in 2025.
